BOCCE - History - Rules and Popularity of the Game - Episode 55

On Sports Guyz Podcast, we have a very special episode where we take a look at a very special sport to us and our family - the game of Bocce or "Bocce ball" as it is called Internationally.  We have been playing the game since we were young boys, and have some of our best memories playing Bocce with our father, and grandfather and his friends called "the bocce men."

We review the history of the game which dates back to at least 5,200 B.C. in Egypt, and then its migration to Greece and China and the Roman Empire, and eventually to the modern game in Italy.  Italian Americans brought Bocce over to the USA, where it has become one of the most popular sports in the country.  Globally, Bocce is 3rd most popular sport played after soccer and golf.

We go over the rules of the game and the reasons we believe it is so popular.  We show several video clips about the history of the game and the rules, and then we show video footage of the Sports Guyz playing the "court version" of Bocce and the "beach version" of Bocce.
