BAMA and TEXAS Go Down!  Weekend Update - Oct 21st 2024 - Sports Guyz

Sports Guyz discuss another wild weekend of sports, leading off with a lot of college football games of note, including the 2nd loss by Alabama to Tennessee and the first loss by #1 Texas to Georgia, as well as another barn-burner win by Miami.  We look at some of the great games in the NFL, including the Lions last-minute win over the Vikings and the Packers field goal to win it against the Texans.

Next we take a look at the Major League Baseball World Series matchup between the New York Yankees and the Los Angeles Dodgers, the World Series that MLB and the fans really wanted.  Major stars on both teams will make this series a great one to watch.  Sports Guyz also take a look at the Major League Soccer (MLS) playoffs which kick off this weekend, with top 2 seeds in the East as Inter Miami and Columbus Crew and in the West it is Los Angeles FC and LA Galaxy.

Finally we discuss the sudden departure of Tony Bennett as head coach of the Virginia Cavaliers college basketball team, primarily because of his displeasure with the new system of NIL and transfer portal, which doesn't fit his style of recruit and develop players for 4-5 years, which doesn't happen in the current environment.  We discuss how his leaving is a huge deal to the NCAA, as another legendary hall of fame coach leaving due to the professionalization of college sports.
